Philanthropy
This year’s philanthropy is all about raising funds and/or donations to support the basic needs of students on our campuses. Across our institutions, initiatives have been made to address the needs of students struggling with food and housing security concerns. Food and housing insecurity can have a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of our students and on their academic success. We encourage you to connect with your basic needs centers to better understand what donations are accepted.
In the event that you do not have a basic needs center or would like to help students at the Host Institution, you can donate to the Leo Food Pantry.
At this time of year, the Leo Food Pantry is looking to obtain more basic needs items from donors instead of food. You can bring any donations with you to the conference or have items shipped to the following address:
Housing and Residential Life – SLDI
ATTN: Receiving
2230 First St.
La Verne, CA 91750
Participating in the philanthropic efforts of the conference is optional yet allows your school to score some additional points in the spirit competition. If your school/delegation wishes to participate, we ask that you provide us with the name of the institution’s organization along with documentation of your donation (receipts, list of inventory and/or total monetary amount of contribution.)
Any philanthropic contributions will be considered for spirt points. Spirt points will be determined by the total dollar amount divided by the number of delegates participating from your institution. Each item donated will be equivalent to a dollar. Spirt points will be determined by the total dollar amount donated divided by the number of delegates participating from your institution.
ex) $200 dollars / 25 delegates = 8 points
Submissions for philanthropy will be due on or before November 4, 2023.
You can submit your philanthropy contribution here .
